We are Chuck and Diane Kribs and we share our love of this area by offering a "Bed and Breakfast" style of service during certain times of the year.   

We'd like to give you a little background on our wonderful place before you go on to the hunting/upland game sections.

The name "Hunters" was selected after much thought, based upon our two main passions - bird hunting and breeding/training sport horses.  Hence - "HUNTERS".

Here in Northwest Kansas, the ground upon which our house lies was homesteaded in 1887.  Like many early places, it had several owners as people traded ground to get what they wanted.  The Burr family acquired the property in 1901 and built a small "shotgun" home.  The little house was added onto in the early 1940's by building another house of a different style and joining the two together.  This new structure was two story with four bedrooms, dining room and kitchen.  Some time after that, an indoor bathroom was added.

The Burr family retained title to the place until 2002 when we purchased it.  For all intents and purposes, the house was abandoned some years prior to our ownership.  Constantly in the process of renovation, it is now a comfortable place to live.

The surrounds are essentially rolling prairie with only two other places within eyesight.  George Custer maintained a camp just two miles north on the Big Timber Creek.  We find Indian artifacts frequently and marvel at how little this part of the world has changed.  The winters are harsh, the summers hot - spring and fall are wonderful.  Winter wheat, sunflowers and edible beans comprise the local crops with some dryland corn.  "Hunters" today is mostly pasture land.  Mule deer, whitetail deer, coyotes and bobcats are seen frequently hanging around.  The prairie chicken is making a comeback with increasing flocks in the grasslands.  Pheasant, quail and waterfowl are found nearby.
